The UFC is finally landing in England this spring, and they’ve booked their main attraction. A heavyweight fight between number-5 ranked Alexander Volkov and number-10 ranked Tom Aspinall will serve as the main event for UFC London on March 19th, Brett Okamoto first reported.

UK UFC fans have had their hearts broken many times over the last two years, as several planned Fight Night events have fallen through due to the pandemic. The promotion seems to be confident enough that this time is a lock, as the plan is to hold a full-capacity crowd at the O2 Arena in London.

Tom Aspinall is one of the hottest prospects out of England at the moment, finishing all four UFC opponents within two rounds. Originally booked against Shamil Abdurakhimov for UFC London, he was pulled from that fight in favour of the main event, while Abdurakhimov was re-booked against fellow Russian, Sergei Pavlovich, according to MMA Vestnik.

Volkov, on the other hand, has fought at the top of the division for the past several years, although falling just short of earning a title bid. He last competed against Marcin Tybura at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi, out striking Tybura and meriting a unanimous decision victory from the judges.

It’ll be Volkov’s sixth UFC main event, where Aspinall competes in his first. Volkov headlined in the O2 in 2018, where he knocked out Fabricio Werdum in round four.

Tickets for UFC London go on sale to the public on February 4th.
