Undefeated Shooto Flyweight champion, Tatsuro Taira signed his UFC contract two weeks ago and now his opponent for the promotional debut was announced.

According to MMA Junkie, at UFC Fight Night 208 on April 30 in Las Vegas, Taira, a rising star with an unblemished 10 – 0 MMA record will take on fellow debutant, Carlos Candelario

Taira, only 22 years old, captured Shooto flyweight title at Shooto 0712 event back in July 2020 when he submitted Ryuya Fukuda in the very first round, extending his winning streak to 9 – 0. He added one more victory before signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and holds victories over such experienced opponents as Yoshiro Maeda, Yamato Takagi, and Kiyotaka Shimizu

Candelario, who has an 8 – 1 Professional MMA record, became somewhat famous as the first fighter to receive a UFC contract after losing his match at Dana White’s Contender Series. He lost by a decision to Victor Altamirano, but Dana White himself disagreed with the judges and awarded both fighters with UFC contracts.

UFC Fight Night lineup for April 30 is as follows:

Antonina Shevchenko vs. Cortney Casey

Gina Mazany vs. Shanna Young

Daniel da Silva vs. Francisco Figueiredo

Mike Breeden vs. Natan Levy

Yohan Lainesse vs. Gabriel Green
