PFL Challenger Series 5 Results

Eight lightweights vie for a shot in the 2022 PFL Season tonight as the PFL Challenger Series rolls on with PFL Challenger Series 5.

In the main event, Brazilian Tiger Muay Thai product Bruno Miranda returns after nearly three years away to face former BFL lightweight title challenger Carson Frei. “Robusto” Miranda has spent the majority of his career fighting in China and South Korea, compiling a 13-3 overall record. He carries a four-fight winning streak, with three finishes in that stretch. Frei, meanwhile, rebounded from a 2019 loss in the aforementioned title fight to recent Dana White’s Contender Series competitor Achilles Estremadura with a submission win over Westin Wilson last year.

The co-main event, 26-fight City Kickboxing product BJ Bland is set to face “The Bosnian Barn Cat” fighting out of Knoxville, Tennessee, in Damir Ferhatbegovic. Both fighters face not lost in their last three fights after losses to high-quality opponents in UFC vets Jonathan Pearce and Luis Pena for Ferhatbegovic and Callan Potter and 2021 PFL season competitor Jason Ponet for Bland.

Prior to that, Fury FC and LFA vet Arut Pogosjan will take on TKO and CFFC vet Michael Dufort. Armenian Elevation Fight Team product Pogosjan is riding a three-fight winning streak, including  two straight wins with Fury FC. Dufort sports an 8-4 record, however three of those losses have come against UFC veterans in Kyle Prepolec, Jesse Ronson, and Kyle Nelson.

Kicking off PFL Challenger Series 5 will be undefeated Israeli “Red Fox” Yanal Ashmoz, who will battle XFC vet Dennis Hughes. The 23 year old Hughes has picked up three dominant wins in a row under the XFC banner, while Ashmoz has finished each of his five professional wins, including his most recent at CFFC 102.
