ONE 157 Petchmorakot vs Vienot

Headlining this fight card is the reigning and defending ONE Muay Thai Featherweight Champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy. He will be looking to defend his ONE title against Jimmy Vienot of France. Both of these combatants are accomplished Muay Thai strikers having held titles in every organization they competed in. In a recent interview for this fight, Petchmorakot said, “Training in boxing has made me a better fighter overall. The way I train and I fight in boxing has [improved] my punching power. Learning the steps and the details used in the punches, overall it’s made me a better martial artist… I think [Vienot] is going to feel the pressure. This is a big fight in ONE Championship. So for sure, he’ll feel some pressure coming into the organization.”

The title challenger Vienot will be looking to rise to this challenge. In a pre-fight interview, he said, “I’ve arrived at ONE Championship with a lot of results. I’ve won a lot. I’ve won every circuit that I’ve participated in. That’s the story of how I got here. I’ve proven myself to everybody. I’m a winner.”

The co-main event has the Italian Muay Thai fighter Joseph Lasiri attempting to take the ONE Muay Thai Strawweight Championship title away from Prajanchai P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym. In his last bout, Lasiri got a first-round knockout to earn this contender position. The titleholder, Prajanchai has held Stadium titles such as Rajadamnern and Lumpinee. He will not easily be looking to give up his ONE Championship title.

In a pre-fight interview, Prajanchai discussed how excited he is for this fight. He said, “I’m glad to defend the belt, I love the fighters who challenge me. And according to [Lasiri’s] interviews in the past, he doesn’t want me to run, he wants me to exchange. I would love that, I would love to exchange in the middle of the Circle. Same as what he says.” And the Italian challenger responded that he was less than impressed with Prajanchai, “I wasn’t impressed by anything in [Prajanchai’s debut]. I’m just ready for this fight and I’m excited to be back with ONE Championship as the co-main event.”

The ONE Muay Thai Flyweight Grand Prix Quarter-Final will also be featured on ONE 157. This tournament will feature Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Walter Goncalves, Superlek Kiatmoo9, Savvas Michael, among other highly talented Muay Thai strikers. The champion, Rodtang, sounds focused coming into this Grand Prix. He said, “The Word Grand Prix format goes round-by-round. I have to focus on my opponents one-by-one. Never underestimate any of the fighters in this tournament, all eight of us want the World Grand Prix title. And they have the opportunity to take my belt away… One fight, one at a time.”

ONE 157 will also feature two submission grappling bouts with Shinya Aoki taking on Kade Ruotolo, while Garry Tonon rolls against Tye Ruotolo. Wondergirl Jaroonsak steps away from the world of Muay Thai to make her debut in MMA facing Zeba Bano of India.
