With an opponent in mind, Sage Northcutt appears ready to return to ONE Championship this summer. However, at least one other ONE athlete has called out the American instead.

Northcutt has been eyeing a date with Shinya Aoki for some time, and the two have exchanged words through social media. That continued in recent days when Northcutt called for a match with Aoki this summer.

The man to respond was not the Japanese legend. Instead, Amir Khan hopped on the social media platform to call his own shot.

“I’m available on these dates if you don’t get a fight with Shinya Aoki,” Khan wrote.

Khan is always down for a scrap and is still looking to work his way into title contention. After defeating Ryogo Takahashi by split decision at ONE X, Khan sees Northcutt as the perfect return opponent to keep his status moving forward.

And while Northcutt may still have Aoki in mind, he was not afraid of the callout by the Singaporean. The American responded in kind and was down for the proposed meeting.

“Let’s do it!” wrote Northcutt. “This will be an exciting fight for the fans, and it would be a pleasure to fight you.”

Northcutt has been out of action since his 2019 ONE debut against Cosmo Alexandre when Alexandre KO’d Northcutt.

Northcutt had to have surgery on multiple facial fractures following the knockout loss. He is now fully healed and looking to return to the lightweight division to show off the new version of “Super” Sage Northcutt.

Time will tell if either Northcutt or Khan get what they desire, but it is great to see the Texas native eyeing his return to the Circle.
