Who’s Number One returns to action tonight with a stacked card, featuring one of the most highly-anticipated grappling bouts of all time and some of the world’s top grapplers throughout. It all goes down live from the Sports Academy at The Star, the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys training facility in Frisco, Texas.
At the top of the card is a battle between two of the greatest grapplers alive, as Gordon Ryan faces Felipe Pena. Widely considered the best grappler competing today, Ryan has lived up to his nickname of “The King” since winning the 2019 ADCC World Championships in both the -99kg and absolute divisions, and has yet to lose since. Similarly, fellow ADCC World Champion “Preguica” Pena has only lost once since losing in the first round of the 2019 tournament. Anticipation for this bout has built both because Pena holds two wins over Ryan and for the bad blood leading up to tonight’s trilogy match.

In the co-main event, Nicholas Meregali keeps up an active year as he faces former Bellator middleweight champion Rafael Lovato Jr., whom many consider one of the best American grapplers of all time. The 2021 IBJJF ultra heavyweight semifinalist Meregali has only been submitted once across all competitions, while Lovato Jr. has returned to grappling after retiring from MMA.
Eighteen year old phenom Mica Galvao will look to continue his rampage through the grappling scene against Submission Underground vet Alan Sanchez. Both have recently won high-profile events, as Galvao recently won the BJJ Stars 8 tournament, defeating Leandro Lo in the finals, while Sanchez won the ultra-competitive EBI 19 tournament.
Rounding out the main card are the only women’s bout on the card in 22 year old leg lock specialist Elisabeth Clay taking on multiple-time world champion Bia Mesquita, and WNO mainstay “The Hillbilly Hammer” Jacob Couch facing up-and-comer Jay Rodriguez.
