Combate Global: Martinez vs. Osuna Results

Combate Global is back once again for another Friday night show. This evening’s main event will be contested between a pair of hungry bantamweights from Mexico, Axel Osuna and David Martinez, looking to make their mark and take home the promotion’s vacant bantamweight championship.

Combate Global: Martinez vs. Osuna can be streamed, in full, on Paramount+, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT and will emanate from Cisneros Studios in Miami, Fla.

Combate Global Bantamweight Championship

Martinez vs. Osuna

Osuna (5-1) is making a quick turnaround after outlasting David Solorzano on the Aug. 26 Combate Global show. More of a wily grappler than a striker, Osuna showed he has the pace and cardio becoming of a champion, overwhelming the American late before getting a stoppage midway through the third and final round. Osuna’s only loss as a professional came at the hands of Junior Cortez and if he can win on Friday, he will have the second three-fight winning streak of his career.

Osuna’s march to the title won’t come easy, however, as he will have to clear the toughest obstacle of his career in Martinez (8-1). “The Black Spartan” stands at just 5-foot-5, but packs a significant punch, owning five first-round knockouts to his name. He is currently riding a four-fight winning streak with knockouts in three of the four fights. He most recently knocked out Chilean Arturo Vergara at a May Combate event, sealing his fate as a promotional title contender. Friday’s fight profiles as a striker vs. grappler matchup, but the five-round element could open the door for further fireworks, as this will be the first five-round booking for both fighters.

Rest of the Card

The six-fight main card will likely feature an unidentified post-lim fight following the bantamweight championship main event. Marcos Lloreda, the most experienced fighter on the card will take on another experienced veteran in Ricardo Centeno, an Ecuadorian fighter training out of Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Lloreda is 2-2 in Combate, while Centeno will be making his promotional debut.

Elsewhere on the card, women’s strawweights Damaris Olivaris and Diana Sanchez will be making their MMA debuts against one another, while promising Cuban prospect Yadier DelValle will look to make it a 4-0 start to his career against American Miguel Lugo, a two-fight veteran of Combate. Women’s flyweights Gillian Noll and Aitana Alvarez are also scheduled to compete.
