The sport of MMA gives rise to some of the best nicknames across all sports competition. The sport has developed fighters with nicknames like “The Axe Murderer”, “The Last Emperor”, and “The American Psycho”. Chepe Mariscal throws his name (or nickname for that matter) into the hat to add to the list of epic monikers, but the “Machine Gun” is here for much more that just a cool nickname.
Chepe Mariscal Envisions a Finish in Main Event of LFA 153
MMASucka spoke with hometown favorite Chepe Mariscal ahead of his main event spot at LFA 153 which is to take place tomorrow at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. Mariscal made note of his nickname, letting MMASucka know that it came to be due to “[my] volume and intention behind my strikes.”

Mariscal has finished his last two opponents via TKO and has scored eight finishes amongst his 12 career wins.

The 30-year-old featherweight was awarded his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt during fight camp and told MMASucka, “I’m on a streak of finishing my opponents and wanna keep that up, so I’ve continued sharpening my weapons and keeping my mind focused.” Mariscal, who fights out of Elevation Fight Team in Denver, Colorado, trains alongside fighters like Justin Gaethje, Corey Sandhagen, Drew Dober, and his significant other and professional fighter Claire Guthrie.
The Main Event

Mariscal will share the main event spot with Guilherme Faria. The Brazilian will enter the matchup with a professional record of 18-9 with 12 finishes. Faria enters the bout on a two fight win streak with his last win coming at LFA 125. “The Machine Gun” told MMASucka that, “[the fight] is going to be a fight, but I am confident I can get a finish. The difference between [Faria and I] is that I’m more aggressive, quicker, with great knockout power and great Jiu Jitsu.”
The Best is Yet to Come
LFA 153 is to take place in the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. For Mariscal, his eyes are set on something more. “Looking to the future, it would be cool to fight at The Apex or T-Mobile Arena. MSG would be nice too.”
The IMMAF National and World Champion has his eyes set to the future. Mariscal told MMASucka that his dream of fighting in the UFC is still on the front of his mind. “Honestly, I’ve been fighting for a very long time. I would like to get paid what I’m worth and for the performances I give. If I don’t get a chance at any bigger promotions after this fight, then I will maybe chase the LFA title.”
