Misfits & DAZN X Series is set to return tonight from New Orleans, La. for the sixth time in Misfits’ brief history. The show is set to be headlined by a 200-pound bout between Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell and FIFA YouTuber JMX.
Tonight’s Misfits & DAZN event will air live on DAZN beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The event will be free to all DAZN subscribers.
Main Event – Le’Veon Bell vs. JMX
Bell, the former Pittsburgh Steelers great, first dipped his toe into the world of boxing when he took on his contemporary, future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson in an exhibition bout at at Social Gloves 2 in September 2022. While he managed knock “AP” out in spectacular fashion, he had a much rougher go of things against former UFC middleweight standout Uriah Hall on the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva undercard the following month. Bell, who is yet to formally announce his retirement from football, could still have a reasonably bright future in the YouTube boxing space as he remains a special athlete with a long frame that is conducive to keeping opponents on the end of his punches.
JMX, real name Joel Morris, is a British YouTuber who came to prominence primarily by streaming his FIFA gameplay. He has over 10 million subscribers on YouTube and his videos have been viewed over 2 billion times. Like many YouTubers in the space, JMX is also known for his vlogs and prank videos and is considered to be a controversial figure. He flashed some boxing ability in his lone professional fight, a second-round TKO over Wojciech Gola. At 6-foot-5, Morris boasts an 81″ reach, and like Bell has the frame conducive to a run in boxing. Morris comes into Friday’s main event six years the junior of Bell and has nearly 10,000 fewer all purpose yards than the former Steeler. The result of the fight will likely come down to which fighter made more improvements in between fights. It is worth noting that Morris’ last professional bout occurred in 2019.
Rest of the Card
Longtime Nate Diaz training partner and former MMA competitor Chris Avila will take co-main event billing when he takes on Paul Bamba, a social media influencer with a 5-2 record in professional boxing. Kevin Ferguson Jr., perhaps better known to fight fans as Kimbo Slice Jr. or “Baby Slice,” is also scheduled for action against OJ Rosé, an influencer who first came into prominence for his prank and challenge videos but has recently been highlighting more content related to his boxing aspirations.
Minikon, a rapper out of Long Beach, Calif., is also on the card and will square off with YouTuber Jake The Viking. Jake, real name Jake Franklin, is a close friend of YouTube kingpin MrBeast, and got his name for his trademark long hair and beard. Iraqi-American TikTok influencer Walid Sharks is also scheduled to compete against “Ayye Pap” Stamaur Mitchell, while Chase DeMoor, a popular TikTok influencer and semi-professional football player takes on Stevie Knight, who runs a popular music reaction video YouTube channel with more than 600,000 subscribers.
A fight between TikTok stars Christian Wardy (also known as “Uncle Pizza”) and Elijah Smith (also known as “Yuddy Gang”) will open up the evening’s festivities. “Uncle Pizza” threw a slice of pizza at his opponent at the weigh-ins, so there should be plenty of heat between the two ahead of their night-opening clash.
