After a roller coaster ride the last four years to finally reach an agreement to fight, WBC, WBA and IBF champion Errol ‘The Truth’ Spence will meet WBO champion Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford on July 29th according to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger.

For much of the negotiations, it came down to money. Both are reportedly set to make at least eight figures, with the showdown set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Showtime PPV.

An interesting stipulation to the deal details that there is a rematch clause either fighter can activate should said fighter lose within 30 days of the bout after it has taken place and the rematch must happen before the start of 2024, which explains ‘Bud’ signing the two fight deal with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC).

Crawford sits at an impressive 39-0 with 30 knockouts. Included on his resume are Kell Brook, Amir KhanShawn Porter and David Avanesyan. Spence has a record of 28-0 with 22 knockouts. Like Crawford, Spence has a win over Brook and Porter, however also holds wins over Danny GarciaMikey Garcia and Yordenis Ugas.

In a year full of ‘big time’ fights such as David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant, Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia and most recently Devin Haney vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko, Boxing looks to continue its hot streak with the coronation of an undisputed welterweight champion.
