After a awesome night of fights last week, the UFC keeps the train rolling this Saturday with an epic fight card. It’s UFC Fight Night: Fiziev vs Gamrot and these are the top picks for the betting spectator.

The Best Bets for UFC Vegas 79

Mohammad Usman vs Jake Collier

This is a showdown of the big boys. Mohammad Usman (9-2, 2-0 UFC) will meet Jake Collier (13-9, 5-8 UFC) in a clash of super sluggers.

There is not much to explain in this one. Usman is on a four fight win streak—albeit not the prettiest of win streaks, but nonetheless impressive. Collier is on a three-fight skid and has been finished four times in his tenure with the UFC.

Usman will rumble through this one.

Fight Pick: Mohammad Usman via T/KO

Dan Argueta vs Miles Johns

This fight could shape up to be one of the more interesting fights of the night. Locked in at 135-lbs., Dan Argueta (9-1, 1-1-0(1) UFC) is set to do battle with Miles Johns (13-2, 4-2 UFC). Both of these men are relatively young in their UFC careers as both bantamweights got the call up after securing championship gold in LFA.

Thus far, it is Johns who has shined brighter in his time with the MMA giant. Despite two stoppage losses, Johns has picked up wins over respectable names such as Cole Smith, Anderson Dos Santos, and Vince Morales.

Argueta has had an odd start to his UFC career. After dropping his promotional debut to Damon Jackson, Argueta would find a victory over Nick Aguirre. Then, “The Determined” would find himself in a fight with Ronnie Lawrence that would end in a “no-contest” due to a premature stoppage.

The spread on this one deserves a close look come fight night, but for now, money on the dog here is not a bad pick.

Fight Pick: Miles Johns Moneyline

Ricardo Ramos vs Charles Jourdain

[metabet_core_odds_board query=”545588″ site_id=”metabet-website”]

Opening the main card will be a fight of featherweight finishers. Ricardo Ramos (16-4, 7-3 UFC) has been away from the Octagon for fifteen months. Prior to his March weight miss that led to a cancellation of his bout with Austin Lingo, Ramos found a win over Danny Chavez.

Charles Jourdain (14-6-1, 5-5-1 UFC) is a fighter’s fighter. Fighting the best of the best of his division, Jourdain has not always come out on top, but has put forth epic efforts in battle. A finisher on the feet, the 27-year-old is also more than capable of locking up a submission, as he has done so four times throughout his career.

This fight should start the main card off with a bang. “Air” is the pick.

Fight Pick: Charles Jourdain Moneyline

Marina Rodriguez vs Michelle Waterson-Gomez

[metabet_core_polling_tile query=”545592″ size=”350×300″ site_id=”metabet-website”]

In a battle of ranked women’s strawweights, two top level strikers collide. Marina Rodriguez (16-3-2, 6-3-2 UFC) has been disappointing in her last two ventures to the Octagon. After putting together a four-fight win streak and appearing as a serious contender in the 115-lbs. division, Rodriguez was finished by Amanda Lemos in November last year then fell short to Virna Jandiroba in May.

Michelle Waterson-Gomez (18-11, 6-7 UFC) is the beloved “Karate Hottie” of the mixed martial arts world. Now 37, the Jackson Wink MMA fighter is on the tail end of her sixteen year MMA career and is on a three-fight losing streak.

Expect Rodriguez to be in full form in this one.

Fight Pick: Marina Rodriguez via Unanimous Decision

Rafael Fiziev vs Mateusz Gamrot

[metabet_core_game_tile query=”543309″ size=”350×300″ site_id=”metabet-website”]

The main event features a classic battle between striker and grappler. Rafael Fiziev (12-2, 6-2 UFC) is arguably coming off of a win against the current BMF Champion Justin Gaethje. The Muay Thai style fighter has viscous kicks to the legs, body, and head, and crisp, powerful boxing to boot. Durable and strong, Fiziev currently sits at #6 in the lightweight rankings.

Mateusz Gamrot (22-2-0-(1), 5-2 UFC) is perhaps the best grappler in the lightweight division, behind Islam Makhachev and Beneil Dariush. “Gamer” pairs respectable standup with viscous grappling and a relentless pace.

This will be a gooood fight. In modern MMA, the grappler seemingly tops the striker nine times out of ten, but to this pundit, the Azerbaijani striker will find victory come Saturday night.

Fight Pick: Rafael Fiziev Moneyline
