Rizin 45 Results: Horiguchi vs Shinryu Main Events

It’s New Year’s Eve in Japan and you know what that means. It’s Rizin time! Rizin 45 will be live from the Saitama Super Arena. There will be 17 fights on the show and unlike MMA which goes by unified rules, knees and soccer kicks to grounded opponents will be allowed.

The main event will feature two of the best flyweights in the world as Kyoji Horiguchi, a former Bellator and Rizin bantamweight champion will take on Makoto “Shinryu” to see who becomes the first Rizin flyweight champion.

Unfortunately, some complications happened with the co-main event. Rizin bantamweight champion Juan Archuleta missed weight in his title defense against Kai Asakura. As a result, Archuleta was stripped of the belt. If he wins, the fight will be deemed a no-contest. Only Asakura is eligible to win.

What is without question the people’s main event will see former K-1 kickboxer Ren Hiramoto take on former Rise kickboxer Ya-Man in an MMA match. Both guys have been talking trash before the fight so it should be an exciting clash.
