Mark Hunt has declared his comeback to the world of combat sports this year. The “Super Samoan” is aiming to take part in three bouts against opponents of a similar age, around 50 years old. The former K-1 and MMA fighter is exploring two possibilities for his return: either signing a deal with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship or participating in a boxing match in Saudi Arabia.
Earlier this month Mark Hunt posted a video on his Instagram account, where the New Zealand native revealed his intention to fight thrice this year against opponents in their 50s, given that he will reach that same age this year. He expressed a desire for the first fight to take place in June.

Building on his comeback announcement, Hunt shared another video on his social media, incorporating a clip from the 2021 documentary “Mark Hunt: The Fight of His Life.” In the clip, former K-1 commentator Michael Schiavello discussed Hunt’s street fighting days. In the accompanying caption, Hunt challenged BKFC heavyweight champion Mick Terrill to a title fight.

Regarding the potential boxing match in Saudi Arabia, Hunt provided limited information. In an interview with the From The Stands YouTube channel, he mentioned ongoing discussions with people from Francis Ngannou’s camp, specifically Mike Tyson.
He followed it with an Instagram Story post in which we can read that the bout could take place in December and it would be an eight-round affair. No further details are known.

Noteworthy wins include those against Peter Graham, Jerome Le Banner, and Stefan Leko. Despite primarily utilizing his boxing skills in the kickboxing ring, Hunt transitioned to MMA, accumulating a record of 13-14, 1 NC. He secured decision victories over Mirko Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva in Pride FC and delivered knockouts against fighters such as Ben Rothwell, Roy Nelson, Frank Mir, and Derrick Lewis.
Hunt, who also has some boxing experience with a professional record of 1-2-1, achieved a knockout stoppage against Sonny Bill Williams for his sole win.
On the other hand, Mike Tyson, a legendary figure in boxing, holds an impressive record of 50 wins, 6 losses, and 2 no contests. Tyson’s notable achievements include being the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles, as well as the only heavyweight to unify them in succession. After his release from prison in 1995, Tyson reclaimed the WBA and WBC titles in 1996, placing him among boxing greats like Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali, Tim Witherspoon, Evander Holyfield, and George Foreman.
