Zach Calmus entered the Mohegun Sun Arena Saturday night for his sixth appearance under the BKFC banner. “Shark Attack” was looking for his third straight win inside Dave Feldman’s bare knuckle ring. His opponent Connor McKenna entered the battle with an extensive combat sports resume. Calmus would not be denied and scored a brutal knockout and earned Fight of the Night honors along the way.

Zach Calmus Scores Brutal Knockout at BKFC 61

The Fight of the Night erupted quickly as the two heavyweight combatants threw punches with reckless abandon in round one. Calmus, who scored the better of the shots, was clipped by McKenna towards the end of the first round. Both men returned to their stools at the bell with the crowd roaring.

“[In between rounds one and two], I was thinking how grateful I was that I trained hard for this fight because he was so tough.” Calmus told MMASucka.

Calmus and McKenna carried the action through the second two-minute round and answered the bell for the third. This is where Calmus landed a brutal shot, sending “The Irish Warrior” down to the canvas. Referee Dan Miragliotta observed the damage and waived off the contest, naming Calmus the winner. The proud Gloucester, Massachusetts prizefighter scored his third straight finish inside the BKFC ring.

Certainly, Calmus is on the radar of the top heavyweights of the division, and after signing a new three-fight deal, opportunities are immense for the Grealish Boxing Club brawler.

“My future holds whatever the BKFC has laid out for me.”
