In an amateur MMA career that featured winning five championship belts across the flyweight and bantamweight weight classes, Terrance “Wrong Turn” Saeturn is no stranger to the title picture when it has been presented to him.
Now 6-1 in his professional MMA career after a first round TKO over another rising flyweight prospect in Stav Schwartz (3-1 professional MMA record) at A1 Combat 20, Saeturn looks to potentially become the second flyweight champion in Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat history as he takes on Carlos Puente Jr. (8-8-1 professional MMA record) in the main event at A1 Combat 24 on September 6th from the Hard Rock Sacramento.
“It is just another fight, but it has been a goal of mine to win a regional professional MMA title”, Saeturn began. “It just feels good to (you know) write something down and then just create a structure of steps to kind of get there and seeing things unfold you know.”
Coming into the Schwartz fight on a two-fight winning streak, “Wrong Turn” had already been turning heads in a regional flyweight scene that had been searching for a star to contest the likes of Alexandre Pantoja of the UFC and Demetrious Johnson of ONE Championship. Following the finish of Schwartz at A1 Combat 20, that call came earlier than expected.
“They actually wanted me to be ready (my management team) wanted me to be ready for this month or August for like a short notice thing and I took it ” he continued. I took kind of like with the grain of salt, because I just didn’t want to, I personally didn’t want to prepare for like a slim chance or like a hope of filling in for somebody.”
Now with the recent sending of former A1 Combat flyweight starlet Jack Duffy (7-0 Pro MMA) to Dana White’s Contender Series this season, the likelihood of A1 Combat sending another flyweight prospect to the big show is an idea that is becoming more and more of a possibility.
Don’t miss Terrance Saeturn’s return to the A1 Combat cage as he will take on Carlos Puente Jr. for the A1 Combat Flyweight Championship for A1 Combat 24’s main event on September 6th at the Hard Rock Sacramento. Doors open at 4 P.M. to the venue, with preliminary bouts starting at 5 P.M. and being streamed LIVE on the A1 Combat YouTube channel and the main card beginning at 7 P.M. on UFC Fight Pass.
