247 Fighting Championships will be returning to Printscape Arena for their final card of 2019 on November 16. The promotion’s third event, Brawl in the Burgh 2, has already had some fights announced and is shaping up to be a huge card.
Brawl in the Burgh 2 Fight Announcements
Return of Mark Cherico
Previously one of the biggest names in Pittsburgh MMA, Mark Cherico will be making his return to action at Brawl in the Burgh 2. “The Pride of Bloomfield” last fought in 2017 on Dana White’s Contender Series, where he was defeated by Mike Santiago. Two years later, he’ll be back in action in the main event for 247 Fighting Championships, according to a report from DKPittsburghSports. His opponent has not yet been announced. But, Cherico is a big deal in Pittsburgh and his presence in the main event is surely great for business for Ryan Middleton and 247 FC.
Featherweight Title Fight
It was reported on Tuesday by BluegrassMMA that the promotion will crown its inaugural featherweight champion in the card’s co-main event. Ethan Goss of the remarkable Gorilla House Gym will take on John de Jesus in the bout. Goss is a fan favorite at 247 Fighting Championships, as he was victorious in the co-main event of the promotion’s first ever fight card. He looks to extend his two fight win streak. de Jesus, the third ranked featherweight in Pennsylvania, is looking to snap a two fight skid. This fight will be incredible, and the addition of the inaugural featherweight championship makes it even more interesting with higher stakes.
170 Pound Amateur Championship
The promotion announced on their Facebook page last week that they will be crowning a 170 pound amateur champion. To qualify, a fighter needs to have at least four amateur fights, have a winning record, and have been victorious in their last fight. The reason for requiring four career fights is to allow the fight to take place under the advanced amateur ruleset. This ruleset is much better than Pennsylvania’s very restrictive ruleset for regular amateurs, and it’s a great idea by Middleton to make sure this title fight is fought under advanced rules. Though the fighters haven’t been announced yet, we can be sure that neither participant will have fought in 247 Fighting Championships before. None of the 170 pound amateurs that have previously fought for the promotion meet the qualifications.
