8 Jake Paul Style Business Marketing Tips

How does a 24-year-old YouTuber manage to annoy half the combat sports world while banking hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting some of the biggest names in the industry? That’s exactly what Jake Paul has managed to do and it doesn’t sit well with many people.

MMA fighter Leon Edwards is one of many UFC stars struggling to make a name for themselves in the sport. They take any fight they can because they need the money and recognition. Edwards has phenomenal fight skills but he isn’t a fan favorite.

Fighters call one another out frequently. Most of those call-outs go unnoticed by big names. But that is not the case with Jake Paul. Instead, he’s wormed his way to the top of the game, despite having only three years as a professional in the sport.

What is his secret? Does Jake Paul have some kind of secret voodoo spell placed over the world?

Paul quickly worked his way to the top by utilizing great marketing skills. Business owners and entrepreneurs alike can learn many things from the former Disney-star turned boxing pro.

Who is Jake Paul?

Jake Paul brought his 20-million YouTube followers and 18 million followers combined on other social media platforms combined to the combat fighting world in 2018 when he and his brother Logan Paul participated in a celebrity boxing match against fellow YouTube brothers KSI and Deji Olatunji.

Logan’s bout ended in a draw but Jake scored a TKO win against Olatunji.

He then went on to defeat YouTuber AnEsonGib on the undercard bout at the Mike Tyson versus Roy Jones Jr. PPV event. Paul then earned his third win after knocking out former NBA Point Guard and Slam Dunk winner Nate Robinson. His last win came against former UFC star Ben Askren at the Triller Fight Club PPV event. Paul won in Round 1 of the fight via TKO.

From then, it was on like donkey kong for Paul, who on more than one occasion, has called out names like UFC greats Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor and labeled himself the best boxer in the business. His trash-talking has not fallen upon deaf ears.

Word is Paul will fight Floyd Mayweather or Conor McGregor next, although nothing is official. Logan, his brother, has already landed a fight with Mayweather set for June 18.

MMA legends like BJ Penn and Daniel Cormier have called out Paul for a fight. The list of names who say they want to “whoop the motherf*ckers ass” grows by the day.

Paul earned at least $500,000 for each of his fights. Dana White lost a million dollars and made Paul a little bit richer after his TKO defeat against Ben Askren.

How does a Disney-star YouTuber get THIS type of attention?

Paul delivers the whole package; love it or hate it.

Business owners should pay attention to Paul. Using some of his strategies in business life can make a big difference in the company’s success.

Create Your Own Style

From his choice of clothing to his taunting tactics, Paul has a style of his own. It sets him apart from the majority of fighters who really don’t get the crowd going. A great product is half the battle. Standing out from the competition and getting noticed is the second. Paul did exactly that when made his crossover into the boxing world.

Create a unique customer experience by offering unique products. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. You avoid oversaturating the market with more of the same product/service and create an easily recognizable brand synonymous with your company image.

Don’t Forget the Audience

Paul had an advantage coming into the boxing world as a popular YouTuber. He brought with him more than 20 million fans from this platform alone. Although some aren’t boxing fans, they’ll watch if Paul is in the ring.

Some people, like Mike Tyson, feel like Paul saved the sport of boxing by broadcasting on YouTube. He went as far as to say the boxing world “owes YouTubers.” Other people disagree and say that Paul and other “celebrity boxers” make a mockery of the sport.

Either way, he has their attention. Big-name fighters want a piece of Paul. Along with his brother Logan, Jake earns big bucks fighting, no matter what anyone thinks about it.

The bottom line: don’t forget the people supporting your business. Interact with the customers so they know how much you appreciate their support. People will love you or hate you. Either way, it gets them talking about your products and services. Your products and services may eventually grow on them as they observe from a distance.

Be Seen

Jake Paul steals the show whenever he walks in the crowd. He knows his presence is bound to stir up something. And that’s okay. The self-proclaimed troll loves the media attention. It keeps him in the spotlight and well, so far, that’s working wonders for him. He was in attendance at UFC 261, the biggest event in the UFC’s calendar this year.

In business, do not be afraid to get your brand in the limelight. The more people who see your products and services, the faster things will take off.

Create Intrigue

Creating brand intrigue is one of the most important of all marketing tools. Customers want to know what else is in store, why they need the product or service you offer.

People want to know if Jake Paul can walk the walk. They want to know if he is more than another celebrity looking for a shot at fame and fortune. What would happen if Paul got in the ring with a “real” fighter? Who will be the first to finally knock out the annoying punk kid whom everyone loves to hate? This intrigue keeps Jake Paul’s name in their mouth.

Set Achievable Goals

Everyone wants to achieve success in their business. Jake Paul proves that it is done when you do not set yourself up for failure. Paul knows fighting some of the best in the MMA would end unfavorably for him. He hand selects his fights and trash talks between events. So far, so good.

Don’t be afraid to be Over the Top

Jake Paul sure isn’t and so far, it’s worked well for the boxer.

Jake Paul is an admitted troll and the people fall for it every single time. Paul says whatever necessary to get a rise out of people and that’s exactly what he is going. In the process, Paul is creating a name for himself that so many professional fighters cannot. It’s not Paul’s fighting skills that attract people to him, but rather his over-the-top showmanship and trash-talking skills. These types of antics get people to notice Paul and the sport. He’s bringing boxing and MMA to a more mainstream and diverse group of people.

The bottom line: what works for others may not work for your business. Don’t be afraid to step outside the box to find your spot in the business world, ask help from the expert like a good business financial coach.

Be Confident

Paul is what some would call over-confident in his boxing and fighting capabilities. He says that it’s not arrogance but rather, claims he knows that he is the best and just needs time to prove it.

No matter what type of product or service you are marketing, believe that it is the best. Believe in the product and service and don’t be afraid to tell everyone how amazing that product is.

Back it Up

Back up whatever promises you make about a product. Jake Paul does a good job of backing up all that trash talk. His 3-0 record speaks for itself. Maybe he’s been in the ring with “no-name fighters.” Maybe a “real” fighter would stomp him to the ground. Either way, he’s brought the action in his four professional bouts.

Say what you mean and mean what you say in all areas of your business. Back up your products and help customers feel as strongly about them as you. Customers love companies that deliver on tier promises.
