Jay Silva: Continuing a Storied Career

Jay Silva will look to add another piece of history to his storied career as he takes part in the first Golden Boy MMA card. Liddell vs. Ortiz 3 is set to take place Saturday, November 24, 2018. Silva’s career has seen him step on the big stage in practically every major organization in the world.

Storied Past

Silva is a professional of over ten years, with his debut coming in Ring of Combat. Since then, Silva has stepped into the cages of the UFC, Bellator, and Polish powerhouse KSW.

Silva has been in the cage with the likes of Michal Materla, Sam Alvey, Hector Lombard, Chris Leben, and many others. Silva’s bouts with Materla in KSW are considered an epic trilogy, with two of the fights winning Fight of the Night, and the third earning Silva the Knockout of the Night. Two of the bouts were contested for the KSW middleweight title. Jay Silva looks to build on his legacy as he is set to take on Oscar Ivan Cota. Cota is 10-1 riding an eight-fight winning streak.

“Man it feels unreal. It’s a pleasure and an honor to be fighting for Golden Boy Promotions now, and to take this next set of my career very serious,” Silva told MMA Sucka. “For me, fighting in every major organization in the world was good. Now it’s time to make Golden Boy Promotions my home and stay with them for the rest of my career.”

Tough Fight with Cota

Silva is not walking into this matchup as a “gimme” fight. He is totally aware of Cota’s capability and what’s on the line for him. When asked if he had the advantage due to the length of his career and the limelight he has been under compared to Cota, Silva responded, “Hell no it doesn’t at all. Actually it’s worse for me because a guy like that has nothing to lose versus me. The unknown fighter, that’s the one that you got to be careful of the most. I’m not taking him lightly at all. I’m training like a madman because I know he’s a tough guy and he’s gonna bring the fight to me, so at fight night I’ll be ready for whatever he has and brings to the cage.”

So what is Silva’s take on the main event of the evening between legends Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell? “Oh man I know it’s going to be a good fight. I’m just glad I can be a part of it. Those two guys are really training hard for this fight. Come November 24th we are about to find out who’s who that night!”
