UFC 236 Results

The UFC travels to Atlanta, Georgia for possibly one of the biggest cards of the year, UFC 236. In the main event, a new interim lightweight champion will be crowned. The current UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway, will be moving up a weight class to face Dustin Poirier for the interim title. Holloway and Poirier have fought once before, as Holloway made his UFC debut against Poirier at UFC 143 in 2012. Poirier defeated Holloway that night, submitting him in the first round with a mounter triangle armbar. Now the two will meet again to fight for a shot at lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The co-main event will also feature an interim title fight, this time in the middleweight division. After losing the opportunity to fight current middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker, at UFC 234, Kelvin Gastelum will face a new opponent for the interim title. He will face off against undefeated rising star, Israel Adesanya, who is coming off a win over former middleweight champion, Anderson Silva.

Also, before the co-main event, we will see what should be an exciting light heavyweight match-up. This fight will see Eryk Anders take on Khalil Rountree Jr. in what should be an exciting showing between two heavy-hitters.

Kicking off the main card, top-15 light heavyweight, Ovince Saint Preux, will face Nikita Krylov in a rematch. They first met in 2014 at UFC 171 and OSP won that night, finishing Krylov with his signature “Von Preux” choke. After that will be a welterweight fight at Alan Jouban takes on Dwight Grant.
