Three Moves for The Bellator Heavyweight Division

Bellator‘s heavyweight division has been heating up as of late. After the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix, the heavyweight division has earned some much-deserved attention. Scott Coker and company can make three moves right now to make the division even better.

Sign Fabricio Werdum

Fabricio Werdum (24-9-1 MMA) recently opted out of resigning with the UFC after his July 26th victory over Alexander Gustafsson, which by the way, he did in dominant fashion. The former UFC Heavyweight champion has defeated the likes of Alistair Overeem, Cain Velasquez, and MMA legend, Fedor Emelianenko. Bellator needs to take advantage of his free agency state, and sign “Vai Cavalo”. This signing could lead to a fueled interest rematch between Werdum and Emelianenko. The pair fought in 2010 under the Strikeforce promotion.

Book The Pro Wrestling Dream Matchup

Jake Hager (2-0-1 MMA) vs. Bobby Lashley (15-2 MMA). This dream matchup is more to satisfy my fantasies and anyone else’s who has tuned into a recent WWE broadcast. Jake Hager was an All-American wrestler in college and is a highly decorated professional wrestler. Bobby Lashley, who hasn’t fought in the Bellator cage since 2016, is currently enjoying a United States title run in the WWE. Despite their pro wrestling commitments, both fighters are still under contract with Bellator. This fight would draw an audience that Bellator does not normally draw-the pro wrestling crowd.

Give Tim Johnson His Title Shot

After his split decision victory over Cheick Kongo at Bellator 248, Tim Johnson wants a shot at the heavyweight title. When remarking on a fight for the title, the North Dakota native stated, “I might be a little selfish right now, but I think I’ve done enough to earn it.” I must agree, he has earned it. Johnson is on a three-fight win streak. In those fights, he defeated top heavyweight contenders Tyrell Fortune, Matt Mitrione, and Cheik Kongo.
