An Eventful Night at BKFC New York

In what would turn into one of the most unique events I personally have ever attended or covered, BKFC New York crowned a new heavyweight champion in the rematch between Joey Beltran and Arnold Adams, with Adams coming out ahead on the judges’ scorecards unanimously.

Adams, who won their first matchup, was able to make an immediate impact almost stopping the fight in the first round by keeping Beltran on the end of his punches thanks to him utilizing his 79.5-inch reach. The rounds final bell would save Beltran but in rounds two and three Beltran would adapt and come out and look to clinch and work the dirty boxing and bodywork to earn some rounds.

Ultimately by rounds four and five Adams had the better gas tank and was able to cement a decision win to earn the BKFC heavyweight title for the second time in his career. Post-fight, Adams was asked who he had an interest in fighting next and he would drop a name that no one expected.

“I heard Francis Ngannou may be looking to make a move to boxing, I wouldn’t mind introducing him to it…”

Fans literally scoffed at it with an audible laugh in the event center here in Salamanca, ignore the fact Ngannou has a title fight lined up with Cyril Gane in January.

Other fights on the card were eventful with Louie Lopez unleashing a flurry to end things in round one of his fight against Gabe Sachetti. The highly anticipated BKFC of Dustin Pague would end via DQ as he would land a fight-ending blow when his opponent Jake Young had already been grounded.

Outside of the fights though to round out the night we had a fan hit the media table and bust a knuckle, folks making out, and BKFC hyping up the alcohol carts they had outside between each round.

A completely on brand night for the promotion and it is on to Miami for another title fight next weekend.
