Amanda Lemos vs. Angela Hill – UFC Vegas 45 Preview

As the UFC puts on their final event of the year, Amanda Lemos and Angela Hill look to end the year off right. Although most are still reeling from last weekend’s UFC 269 event, all eyes are on the main event between Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus at UFC Vegas 45 this weekend but the women’s strawweight bout featured on the main card could prove to also be a treat for fight fans around the world. Initially, Lemos was set to square up against Nina Nunes but, following Nunes being forced to withdraw from the fight, Hill stepped up to take the fight. Now, as the showdown between Lemos and Hill draws near, both fighters look to prove themselves in one of the most dynamic divisions that the UFC has to offer.

En-Route To Cracking The Top 10

Since making the move from bantamweight to strawweight, Lemos has displayed astonishing power that has captured the fans’ attention. At present, Lemos is enjoying a 4-fight win streak, with her most recent victory coming as a result of a vicious counter right hook just 35 seconds into her first round against Montserrat Ruiz at UFC Vegas 31. Lemos has an average fight time of 6:10 minutes and, of the last 4 fights, 3 have not made it past the first round. She has become infamous for her dangerous striking abilities, assisted by the combination of immense power and quick speed. Although Lemos is a more dominant fighter on the feet but, should the fight call for it, one can expect the #11 ranked fighter to get the necessary takedowns and maintain the advantage. Lemos is more determined than ever and being this close to cracking the top 10 might allow fans to witness her most dominant performance yet.

The Hill That Might Prove Challenging

Although she is walking into this fight on short notice and as a betting underdog, Hill is a well-respected fighter who has managed to remain active in the octagon without signs of slowing down. On the flipside, Hill has had three fights cancelled due to Covid-19-related complications just this year alone. Hill is able to boast never having had a TKO/KO loss in her pro career spanning all the way from 2013. Although Hill often finds the result of her fights being decided upon by the judges, she has the ability to do some serious damage on the ground. Hill will be looking to bounce back from her recent unanimous decision loss against Tecia Torres at UFC 265. The #12 ranked strawweight walks into this fight ready to make up for lost fight time and, looking to also get another win in her books, one can expect pure determination and resilience.

A Short-Notice Banger

The outcome of Lemos vs. Hill has serious implications when it relates to cracking the top 10 of the women’s strawweight division. Whilst Lemos says the change in opponent does not change anything for her, Hill is just ready to get back in the octagon. This fight will make for an intriguing prelude to the main and co-main events of the evening.
