MMASucka Podcast – Conor McGregor, George Kambosos and much more

The latest MMASucka podcast is now live. The podcast crew, Frazer Krohn and Tim Wheaton return after a week’s break to break down all things combat sports this week. The boys discuss Holly Holm‘s recent loss and what’s next for the former champion, this week’s upcoming UFC Vegas 56 card as well as Conor McGregor vs. Jorge Masvidal, UFC Paris and George Kambosos vs. Devin Haney.

Who’s Next for Conor McGregor?

There have been plenty of rumours about who Conor McGregor will fight in his comeback fight. Last time out, McGregor broke his leg in a trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. McGregor and the ‘BMF’ champion, Jorge Masvidal have recently gone back and forth on Twitter, hyping a potential fight down the line.

On the podcast, the boys play down the potential of this match-up, thinking that Dana White and the UFC aren’t going to put their two biggest assets against each other when they’re both coming off losses. A combined 0-5 in their last five fights, the fight would still sell, however, to the hardcore fans, it’s accepted that Masvidal would be too big for McGregor. Will the fight go ahead? Only time will tell!

George Kambosos vs. Devin Haney

The other big talking point of the podcast is the upcoming Kambosos vs. Haney fight this weekend, live from the Marvel Stadium in Kambosos’ home country of Australia. Entering the bout, the Australian holds the WBA (super), IBF, WBO and The Ring lightweight titles, whereas Haney is the WBC champion. The winner of this fight will be the undisputed champion, the first in the lightweight division since 1990.

Although Haney is entering enemy territory and holds fewer belts, he is the favourite. With that being said, the boys discuss why you should write Kambosos off at your own peril. Last time out, the Aussie showed power, speed and a huge heart when he defeated Teofimo Lopez to capture all the belts.

One huge factor in the fight is that Haney’s trainer, Ben Davidson as well as his father and trainer, Bill Haney won’t be in Australia for the fight. Bill Haney has been denied a visa, supposedly due to a thirty-year-old drug conviction from 1992. Will this play a factor? We’ll find out on Saturday!
