LFA’s vacant featherweight title will be contested between Elijah Johns (9-2) and Javier Garcia (10-5) in tonight’s main event. Appearing in his tenth fight for the promotion, LFA has been Johns’ home for quite some time now. Whether it was his 26 second knockout back in 2019 or his first main event against former LFA champion Bruno Souza, Johns has more than paid his dues. Along with spending his career fighting against the highest level regional fighters MMA has to offer, he trains at a strong gym in Fortis MMA. He is also the younger brother of UFC bantamweight Miles Johns and knows that a win here today could mean joining his brother in the big show.

It will be a tall task to complete against the one of the toughest fighters LFA has on their roster in Javier Garcia. A black belt in BJJ, Garcia’s ground game has already achieved some impressive feats such as submitting a fellow black belt in the final minute of the first round or even his three third round submissions he had earlier in his career. For all five rounds of this fight Garcia is liable to pull of the upset finish at any given moment. UFC’s next featherweight prospect could be decided in tonight’s championship main event.

LFA has plenty of homegrown talent being showcased throughout tonight’s event. William Starks (9-3) returns and is looking to extend his winning streak against a newcomer in Johnny Hopper (7-2). Starks has won 4 of his last 5 fights with the promotion and could be looking at a title shot in with a win here today. Kevin Fernandez (5-1) is coming off of a first round submission victory in LFA 141 and will attempt to keep that momentum going against the returning Javier Cepeda (3-0). Jota Ninomiya (1-1) has also spent a good part of his amateur career with the promotion before going pro last year. He will take on Erique Owens (3-1) in the final preliminary fight of the night.

MMA Sucka will have live coverage for LFA 163: Johns vs. Garcia as it airs live on UFC Fight Pass at 9pm E.T./6pm P.T.
