First Three Fights Announced for Monumental UFC 300

UFC 300 has its first official fights.

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White announced on Thursday night, December 21st, three confirmed bouts for the monumental milestone event taking place Saturday, April 13th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Firstly, #2-ranked Jiri Prochazka will battle a returning #5-ranked Aleksandar Rakic in the light heavyweight division. Prochazka looks to bounce back after having a 13-fight win streak that included both his taking of the RIZIN and UFC Light Heavyweight Championships snapped to Alex Pereira in November at UFC 295 for the vacant 205-pound title. Eight-time octagon contender, Austria’s Rakic, suffered an ACL tear in his May of 2022 outing versus Jan Blachowicz as he hopes for a successful return following his near-two year hiatus.

Next, Aljamain Sterling makes the move up from 135 pounds to fight #7-ranked Calvin Kattar in the featherweight division. Former Ring of Combat Champion, Cage Fury FC Champion, and three-time defending UFC Bantamweight Champion Sterling saw a nine-fight run of victories come to an end in August after losing the belt to Sean O’Malley at UFC 292. New England Cartel’s Kattar spent the 2023 calendar year recovering from knee surgery after an injury in his October of 2022 fight with Arnold Allen; a fight that was his fifth consecutive headliner for the UFC.

Lastly, rising talents Bo Nickal and Cody Brundage will clash in the middleweight division. Former NCAA Division 1 Wrestler, Freestyle Wrestler, and American Top Team standout Nickal is undefeated in MMA having won all five fights by stoppage inside the first round including two on Dana White’s Contender Series and two under the UFC banner. 29-year-old Brundage, training out of Marc Montoya’s Factory X and another former Collegiate Wrestler, has finished all but two of his ten victories with a recent appearance just weeks ago at UFC on ESPN 52 where he earned a “Performance of the Night” bonus with his slam knockout of Zachary Reese.

Additional fights for April’s UFC 300 will be announced in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned to MMASucka for all your MMA interviews, news, coverage, and more.
