UFC Vegas 108 Weigh-Ins: Prelim Contenders Come in Heavy

UFC Vegas 108 is almost here. Saturday night, the UFC’s August schedule kicks off inside the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, NV. It’s the first UFC Fight Night to be held at the Apex since May 31.

UFC Vegas 107 featured an unplanned main event between Mateusz Gamrot and L’udovit Klein at lightweight. The advertised headliner for the May 31 show never happened as Maycee Barber experienced a medical episode backstage right before she was to go to the Octagon for her fight vs. Erin Blanchfield.

Since then, the UFC has been traveling the world, but as the adage says, “You can go home again.” That’s what Dana White and company will do over the weekend for UFC Vegas 108.

Undercard Fighters Exceed Contracted Weight at UFC Vegas 108 Weigh-Ins Friday

All was not routine on the scales today at the weigh-ins. Two contestants, both on the prelims, missed weight. Tresean Gore (189 1/2 lbs) exceeded the 186-lb nontitle maximum for middleweight competitors, along with flyweight Rafael Estevam (130 lbs), who came in 4 lbs over the 126-lb flyweight limit. Both of these fights are now proceeding as catchweight affairs.

When it comes to Rafael Estevam, he’ll forfeit 25 percent of his wages for tomorrow night’s fight to his opponent, Felipe Bunes. The latter made weight at 125 lbs earlier this morning.  Tresean Gore will also lose 25 percent of his money to Rodolfo Vieira, who was on-target at 185 lbs.
