Volkanovski is the reigning UFC featherweight champion and has showcased his skills in several memorable fights. Let’s delve into his top three performances in no particular order.

Brian Ortega

In a thrilling battle, Volkanovski demonstrated his resolve to maintain the championship connected to his name. The fight against Ortega was one of the best in UFC history, and it solidified Volkanovski’s status as a dominant force in the featherweight division.

Ortega is known for his grappling prowess and showcased this in their UFC 256 battle. Volkanovski showed resilience and fought out of a near fight ending guillotine which had their fans on their feet.

Max Holloway I

Max Holloway, a former champion and one of the greatest featherweights ever, faced Volkanovski at UFC 245. Their clash was intense, and Volkanovski’s victory showcased his skill set and determination earning a unanimous decision to capture featherweight gold and mark his current tenure as the top of the 145-pound division.

Jose Aldo

Aldo, another legendary featherweight, was the first-ever UFC 145-pound champion. Volkanovski’s victory over Aldo, not only earned him a shot at Max Holloway for the championship but further established his credentials as a top contender in the division.

The fight at UFC 237 in 2019 was a passing of the torch from Aldo to Volkanovski.

UFC 298

In the main event at UFC 298, Volkanovski will put his title on the line against undefeated Spaniard, Ilia Topouria.

Topouria made his Octagon debut in 2020, earning a unanimous decision against Youssef Zalal. That fight showcased his well-rounded game, but his next few bouts made his skills shine. He earned three knockouts and a submission victory in his next four outings.

Most recently, Topouria earned Fight of the Night honors for his unanimous decision victory over the dangerous Josh Emmett.

Volkanovski vs. Topouria takes place on Saturday, February 17 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California live on PPV.
