Amir Aliakbari has ONE Championship Debut Announced

Iranian heavyweight Amir Aliakbari (10-1) is set to make his ONE Championship debut at ONE: Big Bang on December 4 against Islam Abasov (6-0). This will be Amir Aliakbari’s first fight since March 2019, where he beat Shelton Graves via first-round KO.

Amir Aliakbari has ONE Debut Revealed

Aliakbari’s return to the fight game has been delayed by numerous contractual issues. Aliakbari was signed to the UFC after a messy contract termination with ACA MMA. The Iranian’s management was forced to pay compensation to ACA for the premature ending of his contract.

After signing with the UFC in May 2019, Aliakbari never made one appearance for the promotion. This is likely due to his previous doping scandals. Aliakbari failed multiple drug tests during his wrestling career, and was banned for life from international competition.

Title Contender

Amir Aliakbari will have his eyes firmly set on Brandon Vera, the current ONE heavyweight champion. Aliakbari trains out of AKA Thailand and is a two-time World (Senior and Junior) Greco-Roman wrestling champion.

The 32 year old has seven victories by way of knockout, all coming in the first round. Combining suffocating top pressure and genuine knockout power, Aliakbari would be a problem for any heavyweight on planet earth. His sole loss is to legend Mirko Cro Cop, at RIZIN‘s year end show in December 2016. An Amir Aliakbari fight is guaranteed fireworks, and ONE will be very excited to add him to their heavyweight roster.
