Aspen Ladd vs. Macy Chiasson – UFC Vegas 32 Preview

Aspen Ladd vs. Macy Chiasson goes down at UFC Vegas 32 this Saturday, July 24, as two of the best bantamweights in the UFC women’s division collide in the co-main event. Aspen Ladd looks to increase her rankings with a victory over Macy Chaisson.

Aspen Ladd vs. Macy Chiasson – UFC Vegas 32 Preview

Aspen Ladd

Since her 2017 MMA promotional debut, Aspen Ladd (9-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) has shown that she has what it takes to compete with the best in the organization, dominating nearly every contender put in the cage with her.

Ladd may have already been at the top of her division had she not experienced a double knee injury.

Six of her professional wins have come by way of KO stoppage. Another victory came by way of submission. Ladd has no problem standing with her opponent but has the necessary submission skills when the situation calls.

Ladd suffered her first -and only- defeat at UFC Fight Night 155 in 2019 against Germaine de Randamie via a first-round TKO -one of the quickest losses in the women’s bantamweight division. Come December, Ladd defeated Yana Kunitskaya via third-round ground-and-pound.

In March 2020, an ACL knee injury sidelined Ladd, preventing her from a scheduled bout against Juliana Pena. Despite a nearly two-year hiatus from the sport, Ladd ranks as the No. 3 women’s bantamweight contender.

Ladd will join top contenders like Holly Holm and de Randamie, putting her in line for a title fight, should she defeat Chiasson.

Macy Chiasson

Macy Chiasson (7-1) comes into this match off a two-fight winning run, defeating Shanna Young in February 2020 and Marion Reneau in March 2021. The Ultimate Fighter Season 28 winner shares a similar record to Ladd, having lost one fight during her professional career. That unanimous decision loss occurred against Lina Lansberg in 2019. Chiasson has a solid bounceback game, which she proved with back-to-back victories.

Along with a No. 9 Bantamweight ranking, Chiasson has several other advantages over Ladd. Standing 5’11”, the size difference may cause trouble for the 5’6” tall Ladd. Add the six-inch reach advantage and Chiasson clearly poses a threat to her opponent.
