Bellator 288 to Host Nemkov vs. Anderson Rematch

Live from Chicago, Illinois, Bellator 288 will feature the rematch between Vadim Nemkov and Corey Anderson. The two previously met in April of this year at Bellator 277, however, the fight was deemed a no-contest after a clash of heads rendered Nemkov unable to continue.

On the first occasion, it was the light heavyweight grand prix final with the belt on the line and this will be the case when the two clash in November.

Running it Back

Heading into the bout, Anderson was undefeated in Bellator, going 3-0 and finishing all of his fights via TKO. Without a doubt, his biggest win came against Ryan Bader, who he demolished in just 51 seconds.

Nemkov was 7-0 in Bellator when he faced Anderson. He’d won the belt when he finished Bader himself back in 2020. He then went on to defeat Phil Davis and Julius Anglickas.

At Bellator 277, Anderson seemed to be cruising his way to victory. He was able to take Nemkov down at will and dominate him using ground and pound. Unfortunately for him, when throwing ground and pound, he clashed heads with Nemkov, forcing a no-contest.

Anderson stated:

My mom is crying. My family in the crowd is jumping up and down. All of a sudden, I jump down from the cage and you see the [$1 million] check walking down the stairs.” (via Marc Raimondi).

The two will finally settle their score in November at Bellator 288.

The current Bellator 288:

Vadim Nemkov vs. Corey Anderson – for the light heavyweight title

Patricky Freire vs. Usman Nurmagomedov – for the lightweight title

Khasan Askhabov vs. Otto Rodrigues
