Cage Titans Bantamweight Champion Johnny Campbell ‘Can’t wait’ for CTFC 40

Cage Titans 40 is only a little more than two weeks away. In preparation for the promotions final Summer event, MMASucka spoke to the now two-time event headliner, Cage Titans bantamweight champion Johnny Campbell.

The champion faces top-ranked contender Jay Perrin. Sucka spent the final hours of sunlight at the champions gym, South Shore Sportfighting. Located in Rockland, SSSF is home to notable standouts in the regional as well as global MMA scene. Ultimate Fighter finalist, Joe Giannetti, UFC bantamweight, Manny Bermudez, and amateur lightweight champion, Chris O’Brien all belong to the gym.

South Shore Sportfighting

On a typical day,  around seven to eight amateur and pro fighters move on the mats. Campbell believes a lot in the small crew known as South Shore Sportfighting. The bantamweight champion spoke about his training partners and the vast amount of looks he can get. He assured that SSSF has a diversity of styles, something he wouldn’t accredit to his opponent’s gym.

War before the War

Since the fight announcement, much venom has been spewed between competitors and their supporters. Friends, fans, and family joined in on the war of words over social media. In talking with the main event fighters, both were occupied by thoughts of their opponent. While they did respect each other’s skills, they did not share that same sentiment for each others state of mind. Campbell took a few of Perrin’s statements behind the barn. In particular, ‘Cupcakes’ did not appreciate Jay Perrins characterization of cage experience.

Cage Titans 40:
Johnny Campbell vs Jay Perrin

Cage Titans 40 takes place from the storied Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The 40th event is one of the best cards ever put together by the promotion. Nearly every active Cage Titans champion puts their title on the line, alongside other exciting matchups. Randy Costa returns after an incredible 46 second TKO victory at Cage Titans 39, where he lit the Pinz crowd on fire.

Kylie O’Hearn makes her return to the cage as well. The amateur flyweight champion makes her professional debut when she takes on American Top Team fighter, Trisha Cicero. Cicero makes her Cage Titans debut after earning her first professional victory at Titan FC 49. Elsewhere on the card, the undefeated Danielle Hindley takes on Vanessa Marie-Grimes.
