Carlos Condit and Matt Brown is a fight fan’s dream matchup. UFC Fight Island 7 is back and will air its inaugural show on the ABC channel. The card is featured on ESPN+ as well. The fight night is headlined by the former champion, Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar. While that fight is receiving well-deserved attention, this crossroads veteran fight will be just as exciting.
First, after the clinic Condit put on Court McGee last October, it was clear the former interim-champion still has gas left in the tank. On the other hand, Brown got flattened by Miguel Baeza’s left hook but saw a lot of success against him prior to the finish. Given the pressure that President Dana White has indicated with at least sixty cuts to the roster coming, surely both long-time fighters are looking for a statement win.
Carlos Condit and Matt Brown – What’s at Stake?
Condit fights out of Albuquerque, New Mexico at team Jackson Wink MMA. The camp has maintained itself as one of the premier hotspots to train in the United States. Supported by the fact that one of the all-time greats Jon Jones trains there, and so does Holly Holm, all of which help Condit prepare for his upcoming fight.
In fact, all of the diverse striking that Jackson Wink MMA offers will certainly help Condit’s striking on fight night. While he handily beat McGee, the former interim champion Condit’s finishing instincts have fallen by the wayside. Since Condit has failed to finish an opponent since 2015, a striking war may benefit the “Immortal” Brown. Despite the bout falling apart twice in the past, Condit has expressed his desire to throw down with Brown.

A throwback banger – Carlos Condit and Matt Brown
Even though Brown has a little less momentum, his resume speaks to the strength of competition he’s faced. Unlike Condit who is 1-5 in his last six bouts, Brown picked up a couple of solid wins in the past few years. For example, his empathic elbow-KO over Diego Sanchez will forever gift our timelines. Not to mention, he came out on top in a loser leaves town match against Ben Saunders. Ultimately, “the immortal” finished Saunders with brutal ground and pound to secure his tenure inside the UFC. One thing is certain: Carlos Condit and Matt Brown will go down as immortalized legends regardless of the results on fight night.
