Combate Global 40 Results – Edwards Picks Up Quick Win Over Short-Notice Replacement Rodriguez

Combate Global returned to action again last night with Combate Global 40 from their home studio in Miami, Florida featuring an action-packed night of fights.

In the main event, LFA veteran Marcus Edwards made his promotional debut on the heels of a razor-close split decision loss to Dilano Taylor for the Titan FC welterweight title at Titan FC 73. After his original opponent, Titan FC and CES veteran Marcos Lloreda, was forced out of the fight during fight week, he was replaced by Leo Rodriguez, who was on a three-fight winning streak and had an impressive 13-2-1 record overall. The fight did not last long, as Edwards connected on the first punch he threw and followed up with a barrage to put out the Mexican “Lion”. The win brings “Bad Intentions” Edwards’s record to 14-6.

In the co-main event, Gillian Noll returned to “La Jaula” looking for her first win in the promotion after an unsuccessful attempt at Combate Global 35. Her opponent, Frenchwoman Jennifer Trioreau, was a Brave CF veteran but was still looking for her first professional win in her fourth fight. She is still searching for her first professional win, though, as “Valkyrie” Noll applied pressure to pick Trioreau apart and earn a second-round TKO victory to bring her record back even to 2-2.

TUF 30 competitor Chantel Coates fought for the first time since leaving the show, taking on the SBG Ireland-trained kickboxing specialist Dee Begley in a bout not aired by the promotion, with Begley picking up the win to bring Begley’s record to 2-1 and Coates’s to 2-2.
