One of the most fast-paced regional promotions is back at it again today as Fury FC submits their 60th show. Fury FC 60 goes down at the Escapade 2001 in Houston, Texas. The card offers fifteen fights featuring some of the promotions go-to entertainers, and fight fans are close to guaranteed to get what they came for. Main Event- Ecuador vs. Hawai’i
Undefeated in their combined four Fury FC appearances, the main event of Fury FC 60 is a bantamweight fight between Carlos “Pequeno” Vera and Kale “Money” Moniz. At two different ends of their MMA careers, Moniz (5-1) is looking for a signature win over a veteran to generate the buzz needed for the next level of combat. He’s finished all five of his wins within two rounds and coming off a 36 second KO of Stephen Perez at Fury FC 55 last December.
He’s taking on the veteran Vera, who originates in Ecuador. He now trains 5050 Academy in Falls Church, Virginia, with fighters like Ryan Hall and Thanh Le. The BJJ purple belt owns a lifetime of martial arts experience and at the peak of his career, which could finally produce the opportunity he’s sought after with a win in the main event.
Rest of the Card
The rest of the stacked card features several names fans of Dana White’s Contender Series will be familiar with, including Aalon Cruz, Jacob Silva, and Anthony Romero. Cruz won a UFC contract with a knockout over Steven Nguyen on the show, but went 0-2 in the UFC. Since then, he’s returned with a first-round TKO of Matt Mooney at Fury FC 55.
Jacob Silva may have gone 0-2 on the Contender Series, but all of his losses have come to high-level opponents, and he’s put on some crazy fights in every showing. “Lil Animal” fights Cleveland MacLean, a 26-fight veteran who makes his Fury FC debut after a three-fight win streak.
It’s a wonder why top Canadian prospect Anthony Romero hasn’t competed on the Contender Series again since his win over Mike Breeden on the 2020 season, but perhaps with a win today, he’ll force himself back into the conversation. Romero did not earn a UFC contract with that decision win, but has gone 2-1 since then, fighting for the LFA twice and Fury FC last November. He fights Kenneth Glenn today, who travels down from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
