Isis Verbeek: “I’m Ready to Show the World Who I Am”

Invicta FC has been in the news of late, making big pickups in the world of women’s MMA. One of those names is GLORY kickboxer, Isis Verbeek, The Dutch deadly striker is ready to make her way to the world of MMA.

Isis Verbeek Origin Story

Isis Verbeek began her journey with the arts at the age of 11. “My parents have always been behind me since I was 11 years old,” Verbeek told MMASucka. “Through their belief in me and their support I can do what I love most.” Being from the Netherlands, born in Steenbergen, kickboxing was already in her DNA. The Dutch style of kickboxing is certainly world renowned and many fighters travel to this part of the world to improve their kickboxing game.

At the age of 16, Verbeek’s began training with her longtime coach, Michael Babb at Hemmers Gym Amsterdam. Babb has been very instrumental in the professional combat career of Verbeek. “He [Babb] is not only my trainer, he is like family.”

The 34-year-old gym was opened by founder, Cor Hemmers, in July 1984. The gym would go through a few name changes before becoming Golden Glory. In 2012, Golden Glory is sold to a group of investors wanting to establish a new kickboxing brand. The organization would be named GLORY. Currently, the gym is run by Nick Hemmers, the youngest son of Cor and brother of the famous fighter Ramon Dekkers.

Professional Career

Though only 23 years old, Verbeek has a record of 51-6 in her kickboxing/Muay Thai career. Mental preparation for her debut should come much easier than other debuting fighters. During her amazing kickboxing career, Verbeek became a European champion at 55kg and a four-time world champion at 55kg. The number three ranked GLORY super bantamweight was also the very first women’s Dutch kickboxer signed by GLORY.

Upcoming MMA Debut

Verbeek has been working on her MMA game with trainer Nathan Schouteren. The 16 win MMA veteran is passing his knowledge on to her, adding in her already amazing striking game. “I train MMA with Nathan Schouteren. I can not wish for a better trainer,” Verbeek told MMAsucka.

The big MMA debut is set to occur at the Firelake Arena in Shawnee, Oklahoma for Invicta FC 32: Spencer vs. Sorenson. The opponent for the November 16, 2018 card is still undecided at this time. “I’m really looking forward to my debut. I’m going to give everything I have and I’m definitely going to have a super hard fight! But I am ready to show the world who I am!”

Regardless of the opponent, look for an amazing display of striking and the start of a very successful MMA run for the next class of women’s MMA superstars.
