Jorge Masvidal announces star studded Gamebred Boxing event

Though UFC star Jorge Masvidal has a fight booked for April 8th at UFC 287 against Gilbert Burns, ‘Gamebred’ also has an event just a week prior on April 1st as he announced a star studded event for his Gamebred Boxing Promotion set to take place at the Fiserv Forum Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin live on Pay-Per-View via UFC Fight Pass.

Headlining the card is the professional boxing debut of Milwaukee’s very own, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis, as the former UFC and WEC lightweight champion laces the gloves up against former boxing champion, the iconic Roy Jones Jr.

Pettis, 36, will be making his first combat appearance since August, where he lost to Stevie Ray via unanimous decision in the PFL lightweight semifinals.

In the other corner will be Jones Jr who competes for the first time since his exhibition bout back in November 2020 against Mike Tyson. The bout ended in a draw. Jones Jr, 54, has a professional boxing record of 66-9. His hall of fame career includes championships in four weight divisions ranging from middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight. Jones Jr is also a silver medalist in boxing from the 1988 Olympics.

The Co-Main event will feature two familiar foes as former UFC and WEC featherweight champion, and UFC Hall of famer, Jose Aldo, will take on the heavy hitting Jeremy Stephens.

Aldo and Stephens met in the octagon back in 2018 where Aldo stopped Stephens in the first round. Stephens, 36, most recently fought on PFL 10 where he lost via submission to Natan Schulte in November, whereas Aldo, 36, retired from MMA after losing to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278 via unanimous decision.

Rounding out the main card are other former UFC fighters as Vítor Belfort takes on fellow Brazilian Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, Paul Daley fights Anthony Taylor and Pearl Gonzalez takes on Gina Mazany.
