LFA 111 Results

LFA begins its first international voyage tonight with LFA 111, happening live from the Upper Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Any time that an MMA promotion sets foot in a new country is a big deal, and is a testament to the promotion’s success. Tonight’s event is the first of two this weekend, with LFA 112 coming on Sunday.

The main event of LFA 111 brings together two young lightweight prospects formerly of the Shooto promotion.  Since a 2014 loss to current UFC contender Renato Moicano, 25 year old “Marreta” Ismael Bonfim has rattled off eight wins in a row. He will look to make it nine in a row against 24 year old “Anaconda” Rangel de Sa, who sports a 10-1 record overall, including six straight victories.

The co-main event is between two of Brazil’s top bantamweights. Grappling whiz “AstroBoy” Ary Farias has won five MMA bouts in a row, with the last two coming under the Taura MMA banner. Marcos Brenos, meanwhile, is a 23 year old prospect who recently rebounded from a loss to UFC veteran Taylor Lapilus.

LFA 111 also has three female fights on the card. Both Yasmin Castanho and Maristela Alves carry four professional wins into their strawweight bout, alongside no losses. Michele Oliveira and Stephanie Luciano are in a similar situation, each sporting a 2-0 record at 115 pounds. The card is kicked off at bantamweight, where 27 year old Gabriella Hermogenes takes on 34 year old Queila Braga.

MMA Sucka has fight fans covered with the LFA 111 results tonight. The main card starts at 9pm ET/6pm PT on UFC Fight Pass, preceded by three preliminary card fights on LFA’s Facebook page at 8pm ET/5pm PT. One of the bouts will be “dark”, meaning it will not be aired anywhere.
