LFA’s Christian Aguilera on Matthew Frincu Fight: “Someone’s Going to Get Finished”

Christian Aguilera has a huge opportunity in the coming weeks when he fights Matthew Frincu at LFA 44 on June 29.

The welterweight clash is set to headline the card, and a title shot could potentially be on the line. LFA welterweight champ James Nakashima is slated to defend his title against Kyle Stewart at LFA 46. Also in the mix are UFC veteran Erick Silva and Nick Barnes, who are scheduled to headline LFA 45.

Aguilera is hoping an impressive win against Frincu sets him up for a title shot or a UFC opportunity.

“It’s the best organization out there,” Aguilera told MMASucka. “I want to fight with the best guys.”

“I’ll take anything that’ll get my foot in the door.”

Aguilera said he doesn’t care how he gets his chance. A short-notice bout, The Ultimate Fighter, or Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series; it’s all the same to him.

“Whichever one comes first,” he said. “I’ll take anything that’ll get my foot in the door.”

“The Beast,” 11-4 overall, is 3-0 so far in 2018. He finished all three wins via strikes inside the first two rounds, and is hoping to make that four in a row when he faces Frincu. He expects it will be a war, as both guys tend to be finish-or-be-finished action fighters.

“Both of us try to put on a show and finish the other guy,” Aguilera said. “I assume someone’s going to get finished in this fight. I’m super excited, man. It’s gonna be a fun fight.”

Aguilera is currently on pace for eight fights this year, though he said it kind of just happened that way.

“As long as I’m healthy and people are offering me good match-ups, I’ll take them,” he said. “I’m healthy now, so I might as well strike while the iron’s hot.”

No matter how many bouts Aguilera ends the year with, he’s hoping that by the time 2019 rolls around, he’ll be in the UFC with a couple of fights under his belt.
