Eddie Bravo’s female-only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu promotion Medusa Jiu Jitsu returns for its third outing tonight. Medusa Jiu Jitsu 3 will feature bantamweights competing in EBI Jiu-Jitsu rules and flyweights competing in Combat Jiu Jitsu rules, which are EBI rules that include open-hand strikes that can have a TKO as a separate fight-ending result.
Both of the Medusa 2 champions will be competing in the EBI rules bantamweight tournament. CJJ bantamweight champion Aislinn O’Connell returns to action and will face 10th Planet Atlanta black belt Joanie Chamberland in the opening round. EBI rules strawweight champion Sophia Cassella will move up two weight classes in her attempt to become the queen of two divisions, and will face debuting Fight Factory Jiu Jitsu product Lauren Jones.
Rounding out the bracket are teenage grappling sensation Trinity Pun, who will make her third Medusa appearance opposite South African Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu brown belt Peyton Letcher. Also returning will be Claire North, a CJJ bantamweight semifinalist at Medusa 2, who will take on Gracie Humaita South Bay brown belt Leticia Yuka.
MMA standouts highlight the CJJ flyweight tournament. Former foes and Invicta FC atomweight champions Alesha Zappitella and Jessica Delboni are on opposite ends of the bracket, with Zappitella facing Medusa 1 CJJ strawweight semifinalist and Medusa 2 EBI strawweight finalist Kiaya Jackson, and Delboni will battle Fury Pro Grappling veteran Chrissy Briggs. UFC strawweight contender Angela Hill is also set to compete, and will face Magness BJJ black belt Sheliah Lindsey. Finally, LFA prospect Alandria Brown will face 10th Planet Qualifier winner Bre Stikk.
