Mitrione and Kharitonov make weight for their Bellator 225 rematch

The Bellator 225 heavyweight headliners are set, as both Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov make weight ahead of the rematch.

Bellator 225 main event rematch official

Mitrione and Kharitonov both made the heavyweight limit of 265 pounds on Friday, August 23 at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut. Mitrione weighed in at 258 pounds while Kharitonov was just under the limit at 264 pounds. Their match-up was made after Kharitonov suffered a low blow just 15 seconds into their first meeting at Bellator 215 back in February.

In the co-main event, former heavyweight champion Vitaly Minakov and Javy Ayala also made weight ahead of their clash. Minakov weighed in at 262 pounds and is coming off of the first defeat of his career to Cheick Kongo. Ayala was near the uppermost limit of heavyweight, clocking in at 265.

Every other fighter on the card made weight.

There was one fight scratched from the card. Light heavyweights Grant Neal and Alpha Toure were supposed to compete on the preliminary card, but the bout was called off due to family issues Toure had to take care of. Neal still weighed in and met the light heavyweight limit of 205 pounds.

Bellator 225 takes place at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. on Saturday, August 24. Viewers can watch the main card fights on Paramount Network or stream it on DAZN.
