MMASucka’s Bellator 232 Staff Picks

Our fourth and final MMASucka staff picks card of the weekend is in. Later tonight, October 26th, Bellator 232 will go down from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The six-fight main card will begin at 10:00pm ET (7:00pm PT) live on DAZN. Check out the other concluded staff picks from this weekend including Bellator 231 and UFC Fight Night 161.

The Fights

One of the most anticipated fights of 2019 is in store for the main event between welterweight champion Rory MacDonald and challenger Douglas Lima. The two previously met in January of 2018, MacDonald taking the belt from Lima in a back-and-forth “Fight of the Year” contender by unanimous decision. This fight comes as the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix finals, the two respectively working their ways through the eight-man tournament.

MacDonald sits at 1-1-1 in his last three fights following the Lima fight, suffering a middleweight title defeat to now-former champion Gegard Mousasi and a majority draw with Jon Fitch. The victory came by unanimous decision halting the undefeated run of Neiman Gracie. His opponent, Lima, will look to claim the 170-pound Bellator title for the third time in his lengthy promotional tenure. His run in the tournament started with a dominant performance over Andrey Koreshkov, finishing the trilogy with a submission in the fifth round. He backed it up with a brutal “Knockout of the Year” in May derailing the hype train of Michael Page.

A thrilling clash at 175 pounds between Paul Daley and Saad Awad is set for the co-main event slot. The two share a combined 39 knockouts in 54 total victories, that being a knockout rate of 72%. Look for the two to exchange massive shots, Daley in search of his second victory of 2019 with Homasi to back up his recent 17-second knockout in August.

Also on the main card includes the undefeated Patrick Mix, fan-favorite submission wiz Nick Newell, and son of the late Kimbo SliceBaby Slice.” See the remaining Bellator 232 fights counted further below.

Staff Picks

Throughout the year, staff picks will be composed of four different MMA promotions: UFCBellatorONE, and RIZIN. Main cards will make up both UFC and Bellator picks, while the biggest fights to make up ONE and RIZIN events will be used. The WINNER of staff picks will have a choice between receiving a championship belt from ProAmBelts or a championship chain from Championship Chains. The 2018 winner was awarded to Michael DeSantis, compiling a record of 202-101.
