MMASucka’s UFC Fight Night 184 Staff Picks

MMASucka staff picks are already a month in as we continue forward this new year. UFC Fight Night 184, also titled as UFC Vegas 18, will take place this evening, February 6 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card is set to begin at 8:00pm ET (5:00pm PT) live on ESPN+ for subscribers.

Check out the results from tonight’s event here.

The Fights

Heavyweight veterans Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov are set to meet for a potential 25 minutes in the main event. Overeem will make his 67th walk to the cage this evening at 40 years old. The former K-1, DREAM, and Strikeforce champion still performs as one of the best in the division sitting at 4-1 through his last five appearances. His opponent, former M-1 and Bellator champion Volkov, aims to climb his way towards his first promotional title shot. An October stoppage over Walt Harris came as his most recent victory, now in search of his 33rd professional career win.

In the co-main event, Cory Sandhagen and Frankie Edgar will meet at 135 pounds in what could be a title eliminator match. Colorado’s Sandhagen comes in fresh off a spinning wheel kick knockout of Marlon Moraes while former lightweight king Edgar looks to back up his thrilling split decision win over Pedro Munhoz.

A fight between Cody Stamann and Askar Askar was cancelled from the event after Askar’s removal from the card. Also, due to a late change, the main card pairing between Michael Johnson and Clay Guida will not be part of this week’s staff picks.

Staff Picks

Throughout the calendar year, staff picks will be composed of main card fights from UFC and Bellator MMA events. PFL will make its debut beginning in April, along with an additional promotion to-be-determined this weekend.

The WINNER of staff picks in 2021 will have a choice between receiving a custom-made championship belt from ProAmBelts or chain from Championship Chains. For the third straight year, Michael DeSantis captured the 2020 victory compiling a record of 201-88.
