Carlos Prates points out key details why Michael Morales is still not fit to challenge Islam Makhachev.

Carlos Prates is really focused on being the next one in line to challenge Islam Makhachev. Following the UFC 330 main event, the 33-year-old Brazilian star has repeatedly questioned his status as the number one contender. While Michael Morales has come up as a close rival, Prates has detailed why Morales does not come in the mix.

Carlos Prates Analyzes why Michael Morales is Bad Choice for Islam Makhachev

‘The Nightmare’ recently sat down virtually with Ariel Helwani. On being asked why Morales does not deserve a chance immediately for the welterweight title, the 33-year-old gave a detailed answer. He started by acknowledging that Morales was a very strong fighter. However, Prates also claimed that he would “kill” the latter inside the octagon on any given day.

“Grappling? I don't know. Everybody calls that guy a wrestler, but l've never seen him try to get a takedown. He's really heavy, but in terms of technique and things like that, I think I'm much better,” concluded Prates.

The rift between Morales and Prates has been going on for quite some time now. During UFC 330, a friend of Morales was seen trying to convince the Brazilian to fight. Meanwhile, ‘The Nightmare’ also had an honest assessment of Islam Makhachev’s fighting style.

Carlos Prates terms Islam Makhachev Boring

Makhachev might have become the only fighter with the longest winning streak in the UFC. But this feat of his has not impressed Prates. Speaking on the same interview with Helwani, the Brazilian striker pointed out that he found the Dagestani champion’s fighting boring.

“I think is boring. I don't like watching fights at all... but especially if there's a grappler fighting. It's crazy because now I really like training grappling more than striking, but I don't like watching grappling or fighters going to the ground. It's a boring fight. I don't like it,” said Prates.

Prates has been delivering some confident claims in recent times. If he can really manage to topple Makhachev, there’s no doubt that the UFC audience will be stoked.
