‘I Want to Fight Again’: Charles Oliveira Reveals His UFC Return Plans

Charles Oliveira's name has been linked to several fights this year, including a rematch with Arman Tsarukyan, a trilogy with Max Holloway, and a BMF fight with Diego Lopes.

However, none of those fights were official, and Oliveira has put an end to the speculation by offering an update on his timeline. 

Charles Oliveira Provides an Update 

In a recent interview, the Brazilian star said, “I don't have any fight booked. No opponent has been offered to me. People keep throwing names out there, but I don't have anything."

However, Oliveira revealed that he wants one more fight before 2026 ends. "The reality is that I want to fight again before the end of the year. I want to have one more fight," he concluded. 

The 36-year-old was reportedly in talks for a rematch against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 331. However, Oliveira had to pull out of the bout, not because of injury, but due to the tragic passing of his Chute Boxe teammate Allan Nascimento. Subsequently, the lightweight division reshuffled around him. 

What Could Be Next for Oliveira?

The lightweight division is currently packed. Justin Gaethje won the belt against Ilia Topuria in June and has stated that he would return next year.

With Oliveira out, Tsarukyan is set to meet Mauricio Ruffy, another Brazilian lightweight, at UFC 331 in September. The winner will most likely compete for the title next.

Now, ‘Do Bronx’ is currently riding a two-fight win streak, with a second-round finish over Mateusz Gamrot in 2025 and a BMF title victory over Max Holloway in March 2026. 

Because the queue is long, the Brazilian would want to face Paddy Pimblett or complete a trilogy with Max Holloway. Pimblett is awaiting the title fight opportunity, and one more win in his column will very certainly secure it.

Meanwhile, Max Holloway remains on the sidelines and in good health after his bout with Conor McGregor ended under a minute after the latter was injured.

Pimblett and Holloway appear to be viable opponents, since Oliveira has expressed a desire to fight before the end of the year. However, we'll have to wait until the UFC makes it official.
