Ian Garry drops Confident Assessment of his Fighting Style

Ian Garry became one of the most popular names in the UFC in recent months. Ahead of his big fight with Islam Makhachev, the Irish fighter was heavily touted to win the welterweight gold via his impressive striking. Now then, while he failed, Garry showed no signs of mental fatigue following the bout. Now, as he's trying to navigate his way up to the top, the Irish star is sounding as confident as ever. 

Ian Garry Feels He was Better than Islam Makhachev

Garry landed some brutal body shots on Makhachev that pegged him back significantly. As the Dagestani champion doubled down on his elite wrestling, the ‘Future’ found it difficult to come out of the stranglehold. Speaking with ‘Eze Obasi TT’ recently, the 28-year-old fighter made some confident self-reflections. 

Garry said, “I was more dangerous on the feet. I was able to stop his grappling. I felt like I did everything well. But at the end of the day, he did what he needed to do to win the fight in the last moment of the last round.” 

He further added, “I'm so young in this sport. I have the whole world at my feet. I just gotta keep going and keep a positive mindset."

Garry reflected an identical mindset as he claimed that he still has a lot of time to get to the top. Additionally, the Irishman also believes that he can beat Makhachev if they meet again. 

Ian Garry Thinks he Can Beat Islam Makhachev

Ian Garry is making some big claims following his loss to Makhachev. After being outperformed, Garry still thinks that he would be able to dominate the welterweight champion if he got a second chance. Speaking with DAZN in a recent interaction, the Irish star said, “But I feel like if I fight him right now, I beat him. I have so much confidence in myself, so much confidence in my team and the preparation that we do. I just want to get back in there tomorrow and do it all over again."

He also claimed that a bit more volume to his game could have easily flipped the results in his favor. Unfortunately, despite Machado Garry’s callout, the chances of an immediate rematch look bleak at the moment.
