UFC 330 features Ian Machado Garry vs. Islam Makhachev for the welterweight title.

Ian Machado Garry (17-1 MMA 10-1 UFC,) currently the No. 1 contender at welterweight in MMA's No. 1 promotion, is set to have a busy summer of preparations as he awaits a critical assignment in Philadelphia in August.

On Aug. 15, the UFC will touch down in the Keystone State for UFC 330. Xfinity Mobile Arena, the home court of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and home ice of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, will serve as the setting of the August flagship event from the company.

At the top of the bill that summer Saturday night will be a battle for the UFC Welterweight Championship in the UFC 330 main event. Garry will challenge for the belt at 170 against current titleholder Islam Makhachev (28-1 MMA, 17-1 UFC.) As with all title fights, this one is an advertised maximum of five rounds at five minutes per round to close the show.

Ian Machado Garry will be facing a tall order in the fabled Octagon later on in the summer. Going into UFC 330 on the night of Aug. 15, champion Islam Makhachev is 5-0 in his last five fights, including a unanimous decision victory over Jack Della Maddalena (18-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) on Nov. 15 inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The current titleholder will be flirting with UFC promotional history the third weekend of August, as he's won 16 fights in a row. Makhachev's ongoing 16-fight winning streak places him in a tie for the longest such run in the 33-year history of the organization, a mark he shares with Anderson Silva, who scored 16 successive victories between 2006 and 2013.

Three months ago, Anderson Silva was interviewed by USA Today's MMA Junkie, mentioning that he'd like to see his record fall. Ian Machado Garry added fuel to the fire recently as the countdown to UFC 330 on Aug. 15 continues.

Across the way in Philadelphia in August, Ian Machado Garry will come into the fight with a 4-1 record in his last five fights, winning two fights in succession. Back on Nov. 22 in Qatar, he scored a unanimous decision victory against Belal Muhammad (24-6, 1 NC MMA, 15-6, 1 NC UFC.)

Garry knows that he's got a challenging test awaiting him in the middle of August, but he took to social media and talked about the fight in Philadelphia

"I don't think Islam has a lot of weaknesses," Ian Machado Garry said of his upcoming opponent inside the Octagon. "He's never fought someone as long and as tall as me. He's not fought someone who has the distance management, the boxing capabilities, the head movement that I do."

Ian Machado Garry Forecasts Violent Finish to UFC 330 Main Event

For Ian Machado Garry, the assignment of fighting Islam Makhachev on Aug. 15 in Philadelphia is serious business. He said he's eager to hand the current champion his second professional defeat in MMA.

"He might get me down," Garry said of Islam Makhachev's ground game. "I hope he does, because I want to prove to the world that he can't submit me. I want to prove to the world that I can get back up. I want to prove to the world that I can beat him in his own world. I don't care how long he's trained in that area. I don't care if he's an internationally-recognized master of Sambo or not."

Ian Machado Garry ended his remarks with a simple promise to MMA fans the world over.

"I'm going to bounce him on his skull," he said. "I'm going to take his title, I'm going to take his throne. I'm going to finish that consecutive win streak, and I'll always be the guy that stopped history from happening."
