Jordan Burroughs Sends Stern Warning to Islam Makhachev

Jordan Burroughs is not impressed with Islam Makhachev’s wrestling prowess. Burroughs, who is a legendary wrestler, has recently made his comeback onto the mat. With a lot of hype surrounding the Olympic gold medalist, the 38-year-old is looking to get himself some high-voltage matchups. 

What did Jordan Burroughs Say about Islam Makhachev’s Wrestling?

In a recent statement, Burroughs dropped his honest opinion about the UFC Welterweight Champion’s wrestling. And surprisingly, he was not at all impressed by the same. Analyzing Makhachev’s recent fight against Ian Garry, the 38-year-old stated that how the UFC double champion grabbed Garry’s leg was not very convincing. 

The Olympian then went on to send a warning to Makhachev as he said, “I watched Islam's fight with Garry and saw how Ian was squatting in defense against several of Islam's single-leg and high-crotch takedown attempts. Garry is not the best wrestler. If Islam goes for my leg the same way, I will send him flying. I think it will be very fun.”

Surely, such a statement will ruffle some feathers. That’s because Makhachev is considered one of the most technically sound wrestlers in the UFC. Recently, the Olympic gold medalist also has expressed his wish to fight Makhachev. 

Jordan Burroughs Calls out Islam Makhachev

Burroughs is fresh from his RAF debut against Sean Brady. Brady, who is a UFC welterweight contender, was thoroughly dominated by the Olympian. Registering an assured 11-0 win against Brady, Burroughs’ confidence is currently at an all-time high. 

Calling out the Dagestani champion, Burroughs stated, “Number one, I would like to wrestle Islam. I think that's the top of my list. A few years ago in an interview, he was like, 'Man, JB's just got a double leg, brother. Like, I'm from Russia. Russia is the premier wrestling program. Well, let's see.”

At the moment, there is no confirmation about whether an RAF fight between Makhachev and Burroughs will materialize or not.
