Josh Hokit brings up Alex Pereira's past, calls him 'an alcoholic' on social media

Josh Hokit continued his attempts to provoke Alex Pereira by bringing up the Brazilian's past struggles with alcoholism in a post on X.
Josh Hokit keeps targeting Alex Pereira. After provoking the Brazilian in the days leading up to UFC Freedom 250, the American heavyweight took to social media to call Pereira "an alcoholic" in his latest personal attack. Pereira has never hidden his past struggles with alcoholism.
Josh Hokit Insults Alex Pereira
Josh Hokit has continued to escalate his trash talk toward Alex Pereira. During UFC Freedom 250, the heavyweight made headlines after insulting former First Lady Michelle Obama while speaking on the White House lawn. Days earlier, during the event's pre-fight press conference, he also insulted Pereira's mother. Now, Hokit has once again turned his attention to the former two-division champion by launching another personal attack on social media.
In a post on X, Hokit called Pereira a "broken man" while bringing up the Brazilian's past battle with alcoholism. The heavyweight suggested that "Poatan" would return to drinking after losing to him, writing: "Alex Pereira is a broken man… imagine how much more broken he'll be after I beat him… he started as an alcoholic and he will end as an alcoholic."
Hokit's comments refer to Pereira's life before he became a professional fighter. While working at a tire shop in Brazil, the former champion struggled with alcoholism before discovering kickboxing, a sport that ultimately changed his life. Pereira has openly discussed that period on several occasions, crediting martial arts with helping him overcome his addiction.
Ankalaev also brought up Pereira's alcoholism
This is not the first time an opponent has referenced Pereira's past in an attempt to provoke him. Ahead of UFC 313, Magomed Ankalaev also posted on X, suggesting that Pereira attended UFC events only to "get free alcohol and get camera time."
At the time, Pereira addressed the comments on his YouTube channel, criticizing Ankalaev for making fun of people who struggle with addiction rather than simply promoting a fight.
Josh Hokit continues to campaign for Pereira fight
Hokit appears determined to secure a fight with Pereira. In the weeks leading up to UFC Freedom 250, the American repeatedly called out the Brazilian through interviews and press conferences. Although Pereira has not publicly responded to Hokit's latest comments, his move to the heavyweight division has fueled speculation about a potential matchup between the two fighters.
