Kevin Vallejos Makes His UFC Mindset Crystal Clear Ahead of Aljamain Sterling Fight

Kevin Vallejos has made it clear that he needs no time to accept a UFC challenge as he prepares to face former champion Aljamain Sterling.
Featherweight is stacked right now, with elite names from champion Alexander Volkanovski to the undefeated Movsar Evloev. Kevin Vallejos has recently emerged as one more name to watch, showing real skill and beating opponent after opponent in quick time. Ahead of his UFC Qatar fight against Aljamain Sterling, Vallejos says he didn't need an hour to accept the matchup.
Kevin Vallejos Wants UFC to Know Heâs Always Ready
When the UFC offered him Sterling, the Argentine fighter said yes immediately. Vallejos said that's how it has gone his whole career. He took Josh Emmett without hesitation, and the same went for Gigi Chikadze. He doesn't care who the UFC offers him, he said, because he wants to be someone who is ready to fight anyone.
âI mean the thing is that I donât even need an hour at the end of the day when they offered me Aljamain Sterling I said yes immediately. I donât need a hour to accept the fight and thatâs how been my entire career. When they offered me Josh Emmet, I said yes when they said Gigi Chikadze I said yes immediately. I donât care who I fight whoever they gonna offer me. I will say yes because Iâm gonna be someone who is gonna be ready to fight anyone,â Vallejos said.
Apart from his loss to Jean Silva, Vallejos has never lost a fight in his career, and he is currently on a seven-fight winning streak. Of his 18 wins, 15 have come by finish, which says plenty about the kind of fighter he is. Now he's heading into the toughest fight of his career.
Kevin Vallejos Feels He Is One Fight Away From Getting a Title Shot
Vallejos believes a win over Sterling would make him the only logical contender for the champion Alexander Volkanovski. He said the champion has beaten the best of the past and present, but Vallejos sees himself as the future. At 24 years old, he argued, Volk would have to get past him to cement his legacy as the greatest featherweight of all time.
Vallejos wrote, âAfter WE beat Sterling, WEâll be the only logical contender for Volk. Heâs beaten the best of the past and presentâbut WE are the future. WEâre 24 years old, and to cement his legacy as the greatest featherweight of all time, he has to beat the future of 145. After Sterling, everyone will know that WE are the future.â
Vallejos' recent run has been exceptional. He has strong together win after win over big names, and beating Sterling, a former bantamweight champion, could well put him in line for a title shot.
