Are lightweight title fights trouble for the MFC?

|

For the second time in as many lightweight title fights, at least one of the competitors failed to make weight. In this case Adam Lynn, thus making the highly anticipated bout between “The Afrikan Assassin” Mukai Maromo and Lynn a three round non-title affair. Although Maromo will receive twenty percent of Lynn’s fight purse, it will surely be of little consolation given that due to his opponents lack of professionalism he has lost his chance at MFC gold.

Fans may recall that back in January at MFC 32 defending champ Antonio McKee was stripped of his title by MFC President Mark Pavelich after he came in 7 pounds over for his fight with Brian Cobb, who also stepped on the scale a half pound over the 155 weight limit, which resulted in both fighters receiving their walking papers from the organization following the bout.

No word yet has come from the Maximum Fighting Championship regarding what type of additional punishment might be doled out to Lynn, if any, but given the organization’s history of showing little tolerance for fighters who do not live up to their end of their contracts one can only suspect that regardless of his performance tomorrow night Lynn’s days with the company may be numbered.
